A summer trip to the Provence would not be complete without an excursion to the Avignon Festival, a celebration of unorthodox and experimental performing arts. The Festival d’Avignon is held annually in this city of 100,000 located just 60 miles north of Marseille. Domestic and international productions are brought to Avignon every summer. Most performances are in French, but some are always produced in English.
The south of France, renowned for its charm and beauty, conjures up a feast for the senses. You only have to mention “Provence” and we can already feel the sunshine, hear the cicadas, smell the olive groves, relive the aromas and tastes from the tempting Provence markets, and salivate at the thought of the fine French cuisine and the wonderful wines offered.
